My Transformation: From Navigating the Unknown to Guiding Others

In 2013, I embarked on a pivotal chapter of my career, stepping into an uncharted, newly created role within our engineering team. My mission was clear yet complex: bridge the gap between the support organization’s needs and our engineering team’s capabilities. It was an exciting opportunity but also one fraught with uncertainty. The role came without a roadmap or a mentor to guide me through the challenges ahead. I was tasked with understanding the unique needs of the support organization, aligning them with our engineering team's capabilities, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration between the two entities.

Embracing the Challenges

Embracing the unknown in those early days, I often wished for a seasoned guide—someone to offer clarity and steer me around the inevitable pitfalls. Without that support, I learned through trial and error. Mistakes became costly lessons, leading to greater engineering involvement, higher team expenses, and moments of frustration. I vividly remember the weight of responsibility with each new escalation, a constant challenge that pushed me to grow.

Turning Adversity into Expertise

Turning challenges into expertise over time, what began as a source of stress evolved into a powerful learning experience. I honed my skills in crisis communication, relationship building, and self-care—three pillars that became the foundation of my success. Each crisis became an opportunity to refine my approach, shifting from reactive to strategic and eventually handling escalations with confidence and finesse.

Sharing the Knowledge

Empowering others the knowledge I gained was too valuable to keep to myself. I recognized an opportunity to create meaningful change by mentoring others. I began training team members, equipping them with the tools and strategies I had developed. By empowering my colleagues, I helped them navigate the challenges of escalation leadership, laying the groundwork for what would ultimately become our Crisis Leadership Coaching program.

 

A Vision for the Future my transformation wasn’t just about overcoming obstacles—it was about turning those experiences into a catalyst for growth for myself and others. I didn't let the challenges I faced in the newly created role define me, but instead, I used them as stepping stones for personal and professional growth. Today, I use these lessons to guide leaders and teams through high-stakes challenges, ensuring they can handle crises with resilience and clarity.
